The University of Lapland's Arctic Centre is a research and science centre located near the Arctic Circle. The Arctic Centre conducts internationally high-level multidisciplinary research, carries out project services, maintains a Science Center exhibition, Information Service and a library. The Arctic Centre also provides education. The Institute with its Science Centre exhibitions is located on the banks of the Ounasjoki River at the striking Arktikum House and it is one of Lapland's most visited tourist attractions. About seventy people work at the Arctic Centre.
